Event description

Description

Master basic hand sewing, mending and altering skills with experienced designers, seamstresses and teachers from the creative workshop, Sew Make Create.

Become a sustainable consumer by learning how to repair and modify clothes instead of throwing them out. This new series runs for 12 weeks, with 3 weeks per topic including a workshop and demonstration in the first week, followed by 2 sessions to test out your new talents. For the follow-up sessions, you’re encouraged to bring in your own pieces of clothing to repair and mend.

How to hem pants, jeans and skirts

Learn how to hand stitch hems to shorten clothing like pants, jeans, skirts and sleeves, as well as repairing an undone hem.

Workshop: Saturday 9 June
Meet ups: Saturday 16 and 23 June

Bring in clothes that have hemming issues.

This free series is suitable for anyone wanting to upskill their sewing, including complete beginners. Bookings recommended for each 3-week session block.
