Master basic hand sewing, mending and altering skills with experienced designers, seamstresses and teachers from the creative workshop, Sew Make Create

Become a sustainable consumer by learning how to repair and modify clothes instead of throwing them out. This new series runs for 12 weeks, with 3 weeks per topic including a workshop and demonstration in the first week, followed by 2 sessions to test out your new talents. For the follow-up sessions, you’re encouraged to bring in your own pieces of clothing to repair and mend.

How to hem pants, jeans and skirts

Learn how to hand stitch hems to shorten clothing like pants, jeans, skirts and sleeves, as well as repairing an undone hem.

Workshop: Thursday 7 June
Meet ups: 14 and 21 June
Bring in clothes that have hemming issues

Practice materials and tools are supplied for workshops, but bring your own items you’re looking to repair to the meetup practice sessions. A small selection of coloured threads and buttons will be available, or you can bring your own.

This free series is suitable for anyone wanting to upskill their sewing, including complete beginners. Bookings recommended for each 3-week session block.
