Event description

Description

Major gifts programs are often overlooked or under-prioritised by arts organisations because they’re seen as the the preserve of large institutions with resources to match. There is also a myth that they are resource heavy.

Major gifts programs can be transformational, deliver a high return on investment and are essential for long-term sustainability. Arts organisations of all sizes, structures and budgets can build a successful major gifts program and fundraise for a capital campaign.

No matter what “major gift” means or how it’s used in your organisation, this type of fundraising hinges on the development of personal relationships with your donors.

Join us for a full-day, interactive masterclass on incorporating major gifts into your organisation’s fundraising strategy, presented by senior consultants Ann Badger and Clare Pullar of award-winning international fundraising consultancy Marts & Lundy.

You'll learn how to:

  • Allocate your resources for major gift success
  • Identify the funding priorities and investable opportunities that will resonate most deeply with major donors
  • Develop, test and use an effective donor-focused case for support
  • Understand the role of major gifts within capital and other comprehensive campaigns
  • Build a prospect pipeline
  • Engage major prospects and partner with your CEO and Board
  • Successfully ask for a major gift
  • Design a transformative campaign, and determine your institutional readiness and what’s required to implement these concepts within your own shop.

Who's it for:

Fundraising professionals, executives and CEOs within small, medium and major arts and cultural organisations who are ready to:

  • establish, grow or energise a major gifts program or capital campaign
  • develop their skills in major gift solicitation.

This masterclass is not suitable for beginners or organisations without a fundraising plan to build on, or those with little knowledge of philanthropy. To learn the basic tenets of arts fundraising, you may wish to attend our Fundamentals of Fundraising workshop. Visit our website for details.

So that we can tailor the masterclass to attendees, once registered you’ll be asked to complete a brief pre-event survey about your level of fundraising expertise and what you’d like to achieve.

The masterclass will include group discussions, role-plays and individual exercises. You’ll gain insights from examples drawn from around the world; and you’ll walk away with the know-how to develop your institution’s capacity for embracing new opportunities, and an actionable plan to attract strategic philanthropy.

Cost: $175pp + GST, includes lunch, morning and afternoon tea
