Event description

Description

Experience an evening of food, music and storytelling held at a local Ethiopian restaurant hosted by Blacktown community leader Assefa Bekele. Over a communal meal, Assefa will share his story – from his beginnings as an African village boy, to his time as an Athens-based academic and
final settlement in Australia. Assefa is a respected leader at the heart of Australia’s African/Western culture-clash, and an important local voice in the heart of Blacktown’s wider community.

Free parking in Council's carpark off Campbell Street next to Bowman Hall or the K mart carpark opposite the arts centre. Please advise of accessibility/mobility issues. This event requires a walk from the Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre, and will take place in a small restaurant.

Meet at the Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre at 6.30 pm and you will be lead to Abyssina Ethiopian Restaurant for a 7.00 pm start.

This ticket purchase includes a vegetarian/gluten free meal.

Performed by Assefa Bekele. Written by Assefa Bekele and Robert Colman.
