Join us for a Macro and composition photography workshop in the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens.
Macro photography is one of the most popular forms of photography and with good reason! This is your opportunity to explore macro and composition and gain a better understanding on how you can get more out of your photos, colour is one of the most obvious elements of composition but often gets overlooked. Its no surprise intense colours make people take notice of your images. Ever wonder why your drawn to sunset, flower and nature photos? Thats becuase vivid colour is behind the reason!
With endless possibilities, enter the world of fine detail and explosive colour with this 4-hour workshop sharing tips and tricks to achieve better macro and composition in your photographs. For macro photography, either DSLRs or mirrorless cameras will work great, there are some technical hurdles that you must cross and a sharp image of a tiny object requires the lens to be positioned much closer than your standard photograph and generally require the use of a tripod. If you have a macro lens, great ensure you bring it, alternately there will be a small selection of macro lenses for the group to share and have a try with.
This is a hands-on session addressing both theory and practice. The course will be held at the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens. This small class will allow the explanation of both technical and artistic aspects that make great photography, with a strong focus on hands on time you will get practical guided mentoring umongst the garden’s stunning grounds.

What To Bring? Your camera fully charged and clear memory cards, you may wish to bring a notepad and pen. Please ensure you bring your sturdy tripod with you. A macro lens is desirable but not essential as we will have a small selection available on the day. As this is a photo walk, please ensure you wear comfortable shoes and suitable attire to suit weather conditions.
About Your Trainer: Lindsay has been running photography workshops in Adelaide for 11 years since moving here from his native Scotland. He studied Audio Visual Technology in his home town of Edinburgh, before moving to London and then to Berlin. After owning a studio and photo lab in the UK, he then moved to Australia to pursue his passion for photography and teaching. As well as conducting training for Diamonds, he also conducts the photography training program for Adelaide Zoo.

Please Note: As this is a Level 2 course, it is expected that you have a basic knowledge of how to operate your DSLR as taught in our Introduction to Photography course. This course is designed for owners of DSLRs and Mirrorless systems.
