Event description

Description

Join the macramé revival in a workshop led by Bianca Barbaro of Play Pieces (and creator of the macrame screens at Semaphore's The Palais). Teaching you some basic macramé knots she will provide step-by-step tutorage to knot your very own macramé wall hanging, perfect to adorn your home or to give as a special personalised gift.

Bianca began her label Play Pieces in 2013 as an expression of her passion for macramé and fibre art. She takes inspiration from vintage design and blends it with contemporary ideas. Influenced predominantly by mid-century interiors, architecture, textiles, colours and trends, her creations have included plant hangers, hanging terrariums, owls, bunting, wall hangings, headboards, pendant light shades, curved booth screens…..and yes even a Kookaburra costume for a theatre show.

All materials in this 2.5 hour workshop will be provided to create your boho hanger including Australian-made cotton rope, wooden dowel, wooden beads plus instructions to take home.

Whether you are a macramé novice or nostalgist who knotted your way through the 70s, all are welcome. Places are limited to keep the class intimate and to ensure everyone gets individual guidance.

*Please note that ticket sales will be cut off from the 20 September to ensure all appropriate materials are able to be sourced in time for the workshop.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Brick+Mortar is on George St, just off The Parade in Norwood, behind the Town Hall. There is plenty of on-street 2 hour free parking (but plenty of parking inspectors so beware!), and the open air paid carpark above Foodland (access off Webbe St) has all day parking for only $6. Bus routes run up The Parade regularly and the closest bus stop is just before the Town Hall.

Can I take coffee into my workshop?

Of course! We have a full cafe on the ground floor, so just make sure you arrive in time to order your coffee and you can take it in with you. We don't encourage food in workshops unless catering is included in the ticketing, but you're welcome to have a bite to eat in our cafe before or after your class, we're open 8am-5pm Monday to Saturday and 10-4 Sunday.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

For any questions about the class content please contact Bianca myplaypieces@gmail.com for questions about the venue please call 0452 140 849 or email hello@brickandmortarcreative.com.au.
