Session 1

Face recognition with Raspberry pi and Docker

As the software and hardware technology evolves, utilising machine learning methodology on iot devices has become feasible. In this presentation, Alex will present the container technology on Raspberry Pi , why to use container, the performance of Face Recognition on Raspberry Pi and how that can be achieved through this use case. Following the presentation is a demo of Face Recognition on Raspberry Pi and Docker. The presentation is targeted at people who is keen to see the feasibility of machine learning on iot as well as people who are interested in rapid development on iot devices.

Speaker: Alex Yu, DevOps Consultant, Deloitte Australia
BIO: Certified Solution Architect and DevOps Engineer on Amazon Web Services with many years of experience in Cloud Computing. Alex started as a developer and then moved into devops space. He has also been working with some of Australia’s reputable brand to delivery cloud infrastructure and various applications. Passionate about machine learning, specifically deep learning solutions for cloud computing.

In this session we take a look at Amazon Rekognition, Amazon Polly, and Amazon Lex.

BIO: Prior to joining AWS, Greg spent 8 years with Cisco, and a further 15 years in the IT industry working for a number of large customers and system integrators in deployment, design and presales roles. Greg is a qualified electrical mechanic, and has a passion for networking, having held his CCIE for 15 years.
