A practical course full of extra hints and tips, this course is designed for those of you bringing a Mac computer into an education or small business environment that is predominantly Windows-based. The course is also for users replacing a Windows computer with a Mac, and for reference by system administrators supporting the above users. You will gain the 9L0-433: Mac Integration Basics 10.12 Exam certification on successful completion of the Mac Integration Basics v 10.12 exam.

Outline

The course will cover topics including:

  1. Network Accounts: Look at how to configure your mac to use a network account
  2. File Sharing: Learn how to connect your Mac to file servers
  3. Email, Calendars & Contacts: Learn how to configure the macOS Sierra Mail app to send and receive email via common server types. Then you'll learn how to configure Contacts to access shared contacts. We will then show you how to configure Calendar to access shared calendar services.
  4. Security: Learn how to secure your user data by choosing a strong password, and enabling FileVault 2. Then learn how to protect your Mac system by setting a firmware password and learning about antivirus features. Finally, you'll learn how to enable network security by configuring the macOS Sierra firewall and VPN access services.
  5. Printing from macOS Computers: Learn how to configure your Mac to print to a locally connected printer, and how to share the printer. You will also learn how to configure printer features.
  6. Instant Messaging: Learn how to set up a Mac for instant messaging with Messages and AIM, Jabber, Google Talk and Yahoo! accounts.
  7. Data Management and Backup: Learn how to migrate your Windows data to a Mac through various transfer methods. Then you'll learn how to set up a backup to protect your important data from potential loss.
  8. Cross-Platform Compatibility: Learn about apps with versions available for both Mac and Windows. you'll learn about apps with built-in support for Windows file types. Then you'll learn how to set up your Mac to run Windows operating systems natively with Boot Camp, and about virtual options for running Windows.

Trainer

Richard Gynes, MSc. ACT, ACTC is an Apple Certified Trainer and service engineer. After studying design and photography Richard worked as a museum photographer in the UK, before moving to education.
Richard has actively been involved with Apple computer and iPad deployments for many schools and businesses. Since 2007 he has been conducting Apple Mac, iPad and software training in Australia.
