AustraliaDescription
In 2017, we reflect on 25 years since the overturning of the legal doctrine of terra nullius, following a 10 year campaign led by Eddie Koiki Mabo, a leader within the Torres Strait Islander community. The Mabo Decision was a turning point in the recognition of land rights for Indigenous Australians, and led to the passing of the Native Title Act in 1993.
Celebrate this important day at an event featuring keynote presenter and Director of Red Dust Role Models and Babana Aboriginal Men’s Group, Raymond Minniecon. He will be joined in a panel discussion by local Elder Sharon Minniecon and University of Sydney Academics, Dr Vanessa Lee (Faculty of Health Sciences) and Oscar Monaghan (Sydney Law School).
