Lunchtime Practice Forum: How to Undertake Gender Impact Assessments (GIAs)
Event Information
About this Event
How can this event help you?
The Gender Equality Act 2020 is a once in a generation opportunity to improve gender equality in Victoria. Anyone who develops and reviews policies, programs or services that directly impact the public will play a critical role in undertaking Gender Impact Assessments (GIAs).
We intend to help enhance your knowledge and understanding on GIAs and provide you the opportunity to gain practical experience using a real-world example (case study) in a local government setting to apply the advice from the GIA Toolkit to unpack when to undertake a GIA, who should undertake them, and how to build internal mechanisms to improve gender equality practices within your workplaces.
What will it cover?
- What are gender impact assessments (GIAs)?
- What does the Gender Equality Act say about GIAs
- How you conduct a gender impact assessment, using a real-world example
Who is presenting?
- Women’s Health in the South East ( in conjunction with the Action for Gender Equality Partnership)
- Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector
