Lunchtime Lit 'Brave New World by Aldous Huxley'
Event Information
About this event
Each month, join James McCluskey-Garcia from Reading Companions Australia over lunch for a storytime session just for adults!
The March read is the 1932 dystopian social science fiction novel Brave New World which is largely set in a futuristic World State, whose citizens are environmentally engineered into an intelligence-based social hierarchy. The book anticipates huge scientific advancements in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning that are combined to make a dystopian society which is challenged by only a single individual: the story's protagonist
James will read an excerpt from the book and discuss plot, character, themes, history of the author and book before online Q&A/discussion from our listeners.
