Event description

Description

Curtin University’s Faculty of Health Sciences invites you to attend the Lunchbox Lecture Series as part of Research and Innovation Week 2017. Join Professor Steve Allsop from the National Drug Research Institute at Curtin University as he presents his lecture, “Drugs and work – what’s going on?” on Monday 18 September.

There are few days without a headline about alcohol and other drugs impacting on individual consumers, first responders, family members and the broad community. But what do we know about impact in the workplace? Should we be more concerned about potential and actual harm? What should employers and employees be doing to prevent problems arising in the workplace and to effectively respond?

Professor Steve Allsop will discuss the evidence about alcohol and other drug use, and related problems, in the Australian community and discuss how these might impact on work. Professor Allsop will present evidence about the workplace impact of alcohol and other drug use, including methamphetamine use, and describe the range of options, and evidence, about responses.

Registration, networking and refreshments from 11.30am, lecture commences at 12.00pm.
