Event description
Employment law FAQs for people affected by family or domestic violence - presented by JobWatch employment law community legal centre.

About this event

This Lunch and Learn session by JobWatch, Victoria's specialist employment law community legal centre, will give you an overview of employment law topics relevant to people affected by family or domestic violence (FDV).

We know that maintaining employment for people experiencing FDV is extremely important for their security, independence and self-esteem.

Over the years, we have provided advice and representation to clients, usually women, whose experience of FDV has had a detrimental impact on their employment. In this session, we will examine the main employment law rights you should be familiar with when assisting people who are experiencing FDV, including:

  • Right to request flexible working arrangements
  • Right to certain types of leave
  • Unfair dismissal
  • General protections disputes
  • OHS considerations

If you're supporting clients affected by FDV and you’re trying to help them maintain their employment and financial stability, you need to know about these employment rights!

This session will suit you if you are a:

  • CLC or legal aid lawyer working with people affected by FDV
  • Case worker or any other practitioner working in the area of FDV

Note - if you are a lawyer, you will receive one (1) CPD point for attending this session.
