When was the last time you read a book by an Asian-Australian author? Are you curious to find out more about this thriving area of Australian writing? From the big names in Asian-Australian literature to emerging authors you are yet to discover, join local writers Yen-Rong Wong and Mirandi Riwoe as they share their top picks to set you on your reading journey and discuss some of their own experiences as Asian-Australian writers.

Yen-Rong Wong is the founding editor of Pencilled In, a magazine that showcases the work of young Asian Australian artists. Her writing has been published in The Guardian, Overland, The Lifted Brow and more.

Mirandi Riwoe is a Brisbane-based writer and university lecturer whose first novel She be Damned was published by Pantera Press in 2017. Mirandi’s work has appeared in The Best Australian Stories 2017, Review of Australian Fiction and Peril. She has been shortlisted for numerous short story awards, and in 2017 her novella The Fish Girl won Seizure’s Viva Novella prize.
