Event description
An open forum D&M session facilitated by Allie Jonscher, sharing stories of life during social isolation and the gradual aftermath.

About this Event

Are you on Tinder? What about Hinge, Bumble or Grindr? How is your sex life going? Are you looking for love and connection? What was your experience of relationships like in lockdown? How are you navigating relationships right now? These are the questions that Allie Jonscher invites you to talk to you about in this public program event, part of her exhibition ‘Looking for something meaningful and loving’ at Sydney Art Collective.

From falling in ‘lust’ baking cookies on a Zoom date, being hit up for threesomes by couples online, entertaining the possibility of digital sex work to now actually dating someone she met on a dating app, Allie spent Covid-19 lockdown investigating the power of the internet in connecting and disconnecting humanity in its most vulnerable state.

You’re invited to this open forum ‘D&M’ to talk about everything on love, sex, dating and relationships in the digital age. Allie will facilitate an open discussion exploring experiences of dating apps, maintaining relationships in lockdown, how you managed your sex life in a pandemic, what your engagement with social media was like and anecdotes from virtual dating.

Come and take a seat, have drink and share your story in this casual hang-out space set up at Sydney Art Collective. It is the aim of this event that after months of social isolation we might be able to connect IRL, share some stories and form some good ol’ fashioned face-to-face connections.

This discussion is an open, judgement free space. Participants of all backgrounds, genders and sexualities are encouraged to attend. No hate or discriminatory behaviour will be tolerated at any time and if seen to violate this you will be asked to leave immediately.

Note: The audio of this discussion will be recorded for use by the artist for the purposes of research and potential podcasting. Identities of participants will be protected where possible.

This is a Covid Safe event. The event will take place in an outdoor space, hand sanitiser will be provided, and social distancing will be implemented. Masks are encouraged. If you are experiencing flu like symptoms it is asked that you do not attend.

This event takes place on the stolen land of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.
