About this event
Shelby Carruth, from the University of Queensland, is responsible for recruiting participants in Perth for the ‘Living with Dementia and Driving Study’.
Driving cessation due to a dementia diagnosis is challenging, and it can be useful to look for practical and emotional support during this time. In this presentation, Shelby welcomes people living with dementia, their family members, and health professionals to learn about the CarFreeMe program, which is offered for free as part of the study. This program offers practical and emotional support for people transitioning to life without driving, to help people continue doing what they love ‘car free’ and transitioning to life without driving so that they can continue to stay actively involved in the community. It is open to people who have recently stopped driving or are planning to stop driving in the future.
The project is funded through an NHMRC Boosting Dementia Research Grant awarded to Dr Theresa Scott.
