Event description

Description

Service Design is centred around creating the best experience for end users. But what does the best experience mean and what does it look like? When we are all uniquely different, how do you design the best possible experience for the end user?

To address these design limitations, contextually aware and user centric concepts are now coming to the surface. One such concept is called Living Services, and it brings forth a new digital era that will transform how we live, work, and play. Living Services aims to tackle limitations in design by creating intuitive experiences that react in real-time to changes in the environment and patterns of behaviour.

With rise of exponential technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Living Services can build unique and meaningful experiences, not just for individuals, but also for the greater collective.

Establishing customised experiences requires vast amounts of information, which as a result, raises many ethical concerns. How do we create the best experience for everyone whilst remaining ethical?

Imagine you’re a town planner within a city. Using AI, you’re able to access boundless information about the city in real-time. You capture everything from traffic flow to the amount of pedestrians walking down the street. With technologies such as virtual (VR) or augmented reality (AR), you’re able to dig deeper into people’s emotions and behaviours. From assessing their patterns and behaviour, you can make intuitive predictions on where they will eat, work, and hang out.

Harnessing specific information allows individuals to actively participate in the design process, however, the amount and type of information collection creates an ethical grey area. When is too much information an invasion of privacy?

At this Lunch and Learn, David Berigny a Lead Experience Designer at Fjord, will explore how Living Services is enabling designers to create better experiences for end users. During this session, you’ll also gain an understanding on how to balance ethics with customised design
