Event description

Description

Hear from John Thwaites, chair of the Melbourne Water board and former Minister for Water, and others as they reflect on industry transition and how the Living Rivers program has helped facilitate this. Refreshments will be provided as well as the opportunity to learn about and discuss a number of showcased projects.

Over the last ten years, the program has partnered with Councils to enable sustainable stormwater management and encourage innovative transitions within the wider industry. Initially set up in response to the Yarra River Action Plan and Port Phillip Bay Environmental Management Plan, the program has evolved to support Councils across the wider Melbourne area.

With currently over 140 active projects, the program co-funds a wide variety of initiatives. These include strategic projects such as catchment master planning, capital works including stormwater harvesting and treatment, community engagement projects and a variety of Council training initiatives. This event will showcase a number of these projects as well as illustrate the overall progression of Councils towards IWM and sustainable stormwater management.
