Event description

Description

Philosophy and Public Policy lecture series:

Living Ethically in the 21st Century – Professor Peter Singer, AC

To live ethically in the 21st century as a citizen of an affluent country like Australia, it is not enough to abide by conventional moral rules which tell us not to do certain things. The world has changed, and our responsibilities have also changed accordingly. I will discuss those responsibilities in respect of global poverty, climate change, and our treatment of nonhuman animals.

Speaker: Professor Peter Singer, AC

Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics, University Centre for Human Values, Princeton University
Laureate Professor, School of Historical and Philosophical Studies, University of Melbourne
