Living & Dying. Let's Talk is an event hosted by Geelong Cemeteries Trust .

This event is the second of FOUR to be held the communities of the Bellarine Peninsula, Macedon Ranges, Colac and central Geelong, all with a FREE networking luncheon and workshops with local experts on dying, death and grieving. Guest speakers for the upcoming Macedon Ranges are:

Special Presentation - Shannon’s Bridge. Compassionate Communities are there to help.Jeremy McKnight will provide a presentation on facilitating and connecting patients and families with services to help with end of life care, planning, grief, and community support. An approach to end of life care where caring for one another at times of need, loss and or/crisis becomes the task and responsibility of everyone.Special Presentation - Talking to children about LOSS, DYING AND GRIEF Roni Sokolic from Very Special Kids will discuss the conversation, preparation and explanation children need around dying, death and grief. Treehouse - Kyneton District health Treehouse is a supportive and safe social place for people with a palliative condition, dementia or any chronic illness that contributes to them feeling isolated or lonely. Macedon Ranges Mental Health Practitioners Network - Macedon Ranges Health Louise Beer a local Community Health Nurse who has been servicing the community for over 30 years. She is actively engaged with local youth programs and mental health awareness within the community. Grief Specialist; debilitating feelings of grief, some strategies of self-care. Amanda Meath is an educator for specialists working and caring with families and the community. She will provide some key factors around grief, personal and within relationships as we all experience this emotion in our lives. Geelong Cemeteries Trust - Managers of Gisborne Cemetery Darryl Thomas AM, CEO of 21 cemeteries including the Gisborne Cemetery, will discuss cemeteries today. The final resting place for many, managing cemeteries who care forever for your loved ones. Macedon Ranges Family Law Are your legal matters all in hand, local lawyers will discuss the importance of a will, power of attorney and legal requirements as part of your end of life plan. Australasian Cemeteries & Crematoria Association (ACCA) Chris Harrington, CEO will present on the trends for burials versus cremations in our communities, memorialisation and the importance of a place to remember. Funeral Director Advocate - A presentation on the role of a Funeral Director, what expectations a family should have of a funeral director and how to engage one that suits them. Planning Ahead – Living well, Dying well It’s going to happen to us all, we will all die. What can we do between now and that final day to ensure we live well but also have a plan in place for death. An expert will discuss final days and funeral options, but also how important it is to live for today.

An information Expo will be available for you to meet and ask questions about your needs and those of your families when planning and discussing your end of life plan. The local business will be specialists in funeral planning, lawyers for wills and estates, grief support, aged care options, celebrants and cemeteries, celebrants, death doula, local health care agencies and specialists will be on hand to answer your questions.

A Death Café where you can safely talk about your questions, demystify the process and explore what is available.

A Death Bar with music will wrap the day up; ending on a local note of who is available in the Macedon Ranges and what can be provided locally around dying, death and grief.

Registration is required for catering during the day.
