Event description
Understand the industry standards and nail the basics of preparing your work for submission.

About this event

In this interactive workshop with Queensland Writers Centre's Operations Officer Chris Grace, you'll learn simple steps that will elevate your work, help you appear professional, and allow you to make the most of writing opportunities that come your way.

Got a project you're working on? Bring it along for the chance to discuss and workshop your bio, logline, synopsis and more.

Learning outcomes:

Participants will learn:

  • The winning formula for constructing a writer bio
  • The difference between a logline and a tagline, a synopsis and a blurb - what are they, when do you need which, and how do you craft a good one?
  • How to correctly (and easily) format your manuscripts for submission for novels, screenplays, poetry, and short stories.

Plus, make connections with other writers, and walk away with a rock solid factsheet for your reference throughout your year in writing.

Format:

This is a hybrid workshop; it will be held in-person at Queensland Writers Centre and live streamed simultaneously to an online audience. It is a level 1 course, suitable for beginner writers.

About Chris:

Chris Grace holds a BA of Creative Writing, English Literature and Indigenous Studies from the University of the Sunshine Coast and comes to Queensland Writers Centre with a background in both the arts and hospitality management. In his previous capacities, Christopher has owned several hospitality businesses and has worked as a food-writer for Fairfax. Chris has also studied a BA Fine Art (Photography) at RMIT - on film – and is a keen musician also. Christopher’s passion these days is for classical and contemporary Australian literary fiction, including a particular love of Indigenous Australian writing and critical theory.
