NEIL MURRAY

Neil Murray is a founding member of the pioneering Warumpi Band. Neil’s accolades include recognition into the National Film & Television Sound Archives Sound of Australia Series twice for My Island Home (which was also the APRA Song of the Year in 1995) and Jailanguru Pakarnu (Out from Jail - a 1983 co-write with fellow Warumpi Band founder Sammy Butcher in the Luritja language, and the first commercially released rock/pop single in an indigenous language).

Neil was also the 2017 Port Fairy Folk Festival Artist of the Year and artists such as Ireland’s Mary Black, Jimmy Little, Missy Higgins, Powderfinger, Liz Stringer and Emma Donovan, have covered his songs.

The Warumpi Band penetrated mainstream Australia with the iconic anthems My Island Home, Blackfella Whitefella, From The Bush, Gotta Be Strong and many others, which have also left a strong indigenous music legacy.

Neil is now a respected singer/songwriter with a string of remarkable albums, the most recent being Blood & Longing and Tjungu (all in one, joined together), written with Sammy Butcher and launched at 2019’s Darwin Festival.

Neil’s latest single, Keep Rolling On, celebrates the continuance of First Nations people and their culture in Australia. It’s an apt title for the resumption of his touring programme after being interrupted by the Covid pandemic.

Always engaging live, Neil Murray's work has contributed substantially to Australia's contemporary heritage as a song man, a writer, a poet and a playwright.

TOM CURTAIN

Tom Curtain is a multiple Golden Guitar winner and owner of the national award winning Katherine Outback Experience. Tom was also awarded 2019 Australian Independent Country Music Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist, Album and Single of the Year. He has released a string of chart topping hits in recent years including In The West, We're Still Here, She Gave Us The Song, Never Never Land, Territory Time and Speak Up to name a few.

As locals know, it is not common for Tom to take to the stage at these events as his desire is to bring interstate Artists to town for the greater benefit of locals and tourists alike. Furthermore, due t his exceptionally busy tourist schedule, it is not common for him to get away to perform elsewhere over the Dry Season months from April to October.

Every summer (Wet Season), Tom packs up his fmaily, horses and dogs and hits the road, touring his music and outback show through regional and rural Australia. Chris Matthews has joined Tom on the last hugely successful tours and planning is underway for the next together with the release of his fifth studio album later this year.

CHRIS MATTHEWS

Hailing from Kununurra in North West WA, Chris Matthews is one of our country's most unique songwriters and performers, carrying on the ancient tradition of singing up country, the people, the places, spaces and everything else in-between.

Matthews is known to many Australia-wide as the resident musician of the stunning East Kimberley El Questro Wilderness Resort – yet Chris spends much. of the year playing every pub, club, and festival around Australia, averaging about 200-250 shows a year, every year. And just like every year prior, in 2018 Chris is pretty much permanently back on the road.

Whilst Chris is becoming recognized as one of the great players in Australia on the guitar, mandolin, banjo, lap steel, and anything else with strings, he’s also an incredibly talented songwriter. Eminently listenable, approachable, and a truly Australian sound to his tunes, he’s one of the rare artists who can combine impeccable musicianship with self penned songs that almost anyone can relate to – not an easy or simple thing to achieve. And you can dance to it.

And it’s his unique approach to music that has put Matthews in such good stead. As well as touring to every town known to man, and supporting some rather diverse artists such as John Butler, Jimmy Barnes, The Hoodoo Gurus, Bernard Fanning, Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers, and John Farnham, his commitment to his art is second to none. All the hours on the road and stage have led Matthews to become an astonishing purveyor of his craft, from the smallest front bar gig to the biggest stages in Australia. He’s played and written with nearly everyone, toured with the greats, and stands alone as a performer who can match it with nearly anyone you care to mention.
