ANU/THE CANBERRA TIMES MEET THE AUTHOR EVENT

Join us for this very special event with Gail Kelly, the first female CEO of one of Australia's big four banks, and one of our finest, most innovative thinkers on leadership and workplace culture. Gail will share the inspiring personal story in Live, Lead, Learn of how she started as a Latin teacher and mother of four (including triplets) to become one of the world's most prominent business people, as well as give a practical insight into the valuable lessons she's learned about the importance of leading with courage, putting people first, backing yourself, and placing your family above all things.

Gail Kelly holds a number of international roles: Member of the Group of Thirty, The Global Board of Advisors to the US Council on Foreign Relations, Member of the McKinsey Advisory Council, Senior Global Adviser to UBS, and Director of Woolworths Holdings in South Africa. Within Australia, she is a Director of Country Road Group, David Jones, and Australian Philanthropic Services. In addition, she is an Adjunct Professor at the University of New South Wales, and Ambassador for Women's Empowerment for CARE Australia. Gail retired as CEO of the Westpac Group in February 2015, which marked the culmination of her 35-year career in banking. She is married to Allan and they have four children.

The event will be moderated by Professor Helen Sullivan, Director of the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy, an internationally recognised expert in democratic accountability and the evaluation of government policy.

Book signings will take place at 6pm before the conversation and then again after. This event is free.
