Liturgy, Community, Modernity: new churches in the Western suburbs 1945-1990
Churches built in South Australia after 1945 were very different from their traditional counterparts. With an emphasis on the Port Adelaide area, this talk examines new churches constructed in Adelaide's Western Suburbs between 1945 and 1990, and the ways in which clergy, congregations and their appointed architects responded to unprecedented population growth, liturgical change, new materials, products and technologies and the emergence of Modern architecture.
