Description

This training day for Liturgical Assistants in the Anglican Church Southern Queensland will cover topics including the LA Handbook, the role of LAs and the Theology of Anglican Worship, along with practical skills including administering the chalice and movement in the church and sanctuary. Participants can choose from two electives for the afternoon session: Leading Morning and Evening Prayer or Reading Scripture/Preparing and Leading Intercessions.

Ticket includes morning tea and lunch.

PROGRAM

9 am – Welcome

9.10 am – Session 1
Introduction (Alan Gallimore)

  • The LA Handbook

  • Program outline

Theology of Anglican Worship (Bishop Jonathan Holland)

  • Prayer Book

  • Structure of Eucharist

10.30 am – Morning tea

11 am – Session 2
Skills and Practice (Alan Gallimore and Allan Sauer)

  • Administering the Chalice

  • Movement in the Church and Sanctuary

  • Dealing with Accidents or Problems

12.30 pm – Lunch

1 pm – Electives

  • Option 1: Leading Morning and Evening Prayer

  • Option 2: Reading Scripture/Preparing and Leading Intercessions

2 pm – Finish

  • Your LA Handbook. Handbooks can be purchased from the Cathedral Shop for $5 each (plus postage if applicable). The LA Handbook is also available online.
