Discover the concepts of computational thinking and learn how to “speak to a computer” by understanding how it works.


This STEM learning opportunity will help you:

  • understand the fundamentals of computational thinking

  • learn how to recognise learning opportunities for computational concepts

  • playfully explore algorithms, sequencing and sorting without computers

  • collect ideas for age-appropriate computer science experiences

  • benefit from the exchange with like-minded educators and reflect on your current practice

  • feel confident in unlocking the wonders of STEM.

You will also receive comprehensive materials with lots of STEM ideas and information about inquiry-based practices.

Good to know: This workshop provides educators and teachers with a variety of tools and educational concepts to meet a range of requirements of the NQF and the EYLF.

Little Scientists workshops are endorsed to provide NESA Registered Professional Development for teachers accredited at Proficient Teacher level. Each workshop counts as five hours and 30 minutes of PD.

Date: Monday, 29 July 2019

Time: 9:15 for a 9:30 start. Workshop finishes at 4:30pm

Location: Seaforth Village Community Centre, meeting room, 550 Sydney Road, Seaforth, NSW 2092

Public transport: The hop, skip and jump bus rouse stops outside the venue.

Parking: limited parking is available in the surrounding streets. Metered parking is also available at both Ross Street and Ethel Street car parks close by.

Further information: wear clothing suitable for hands-on activities and experiments.

Cost: $115. Ticket cost includes morning and afternoon tea. Please BYO lunch.

Who: this workshop is suitable for all teachers and educators and prior STEM knowledge is not required.
