About Alice Pung

Alice Pung is a Melbourne writer, journalist and legal researcher whose award-winning books include Unpolished Gem, Her Father’s Daughter and Growing Up Asian in Australia.

About Kristina Olsson

Kristina Olsson is a Brisbane writer and journalist. Her most recent book, the memoir Boy, Lost, won the Kibble Prize, the NSW and WA Premiers’ Awards for non-fiction and the Queensland Literary Award for non-fiction. Next year, Scribner will publish her new novel, Shell, set in Sydney against the building of the Opera House and Australia’s entry into the Vietnam War. Shell has also been sold to publishers in the US and UK. Her other work includes The China Garden, a novel, and the biography Kilroy Was Here.

About Nathan Shepherdson

Nathan Shepherdson is the author of five books of poetry. He has won a number of awards. Last year he was fortunate to be invited to read at the Voci Lontane, Voci Sorelle Poetry Festival in Florence. Within various projects he has collaborated with a number of artists and writers including Alun Leach-Jones, Arryn Snowball, Pascalle Burton and Sandra Selig.

About Pascalle Burton

Pascalle Burton is a poet and performer with an interest in conceptual art and cultural theory. Projects include UN/SPOOL (with Nathan Shepherdson), 24 Hour Gym (with Tessa Rose), and performing in the band The Stress of Leisure. Her debut collection About the author is dead is forthcoming with Cordite Books.

About Sam George-Allen

Sam George-Allen is a Brisbane writer, editor, and musician. Her fiction and non-fiction has been published in Voiceworks, Bumf, Stilts, Overland, Kill Your Darlings and The Lifted Brow, and she has spent time MC-ing and telling stories about strip clubs and elderly neighbours at Brisbane storytelling event Yarn. In 2013 she was a Qantas Spirit of Youth Award finalist, in 2014 she was shortlisted for the Scribe Non-Fiction Prize for Young Writers, and in 2015 and 2016 she was a finalist for the Queensland Premier’s Young Publishers and Writers Award. Most recently, she has published a collection of essays and short stories on witches and witchcraft called I Put A Spell On You, which is out now through e-book publisher Spineless Wonders. Currently she is working on a new collection of essays focused on communities of women.

About Lech Blaine

Lech Blaine is a writer from regional Queensland. He divides his time between Bundaberg and Toowoomba. His stories have been published in Best Australian Essays, Scum, Seizure, The Griffith Review, The Lifted Brow, Tincture and Voiceworks. He was an inaugural recipient of a Griffith Review Queensland Writers Fellowship. In 2017, he was a co-winner of the Queensland Premier’s Young Publishers and Writers Award. Black Inc. will release his first book Car Crash: A Memoir in early 2019.

If Queensland Writers Centre cancels an event, we will try to reschedule it for a later date. If we cannot reschedule the event, or if you are unable to attend on the amended date, your payment will be refunded in full.
