LITERACY AND MUSIC - ‘Communicating, creating and making meaning through music, movement, dance and drama’

A Workshop for Preschool and JP Teachers, Early Childhood Educators, Directors and Managers of Early Learning Centres

Wednesday, 4th April 2018

We will spend much of the time engaged in musical and other arts-based activities. The focus of this workshop is the expression of ideas in sound, movement and drama that comes naturally to young children at play. We will be working with printed resources from the Musical Child program for preschoolers. Song books, musical instruments and props will be provided. Copies of these resources and other practical aids are included in your workshop fee and so is a link to download the music. By the end you will have complete confidence about intentionally using music in your program in harmony with the EYLF outcome on communication.

Key learning outcomes include:

  • Finding out about what kind of songs and games work and why

  • Knowledge about what research institutes are studying

  • Ways to talk about music with colleagues and families

No prior knowledge or skills needed.
