Listening to the Lachlan is a two-day conference in Forbes-on-the-Lachlan with focus on culture, landscapes, communities and productivity.
About this event
Originating above the Wyangala Dam wall, the 1400 km Lachlan River provides cultural, economic, community, ecological and emotional connections as it travels through hills, valleys, plains and terminating in vast wetlands.
Human activities continue to influence how the river functions and the recent floods through the entire valley demonstrated the extent of water this valley can contain.
The proposed raising of the Wyangala Dam wall will result in dire ecological diasaters - upstream, mid-stream and downstream. These, and other issues are to be presented and discussed at the two-day conference on 21 and 22 June, 2022.
Everyone is invited to attend and participate in this gathering which also features Welcome to Country by Wiradjuri Elders, locally grown food sourced and prepared by Eat Your Greens, entertainment and presentations from people who live along the Lachlan, ecologists and other researchers.
The conference dinner on the 21st June is not to be missed where sharing stories will be front and centre as we talk about the river in our lives - the Lachlan / Galari
Eat Your Greens is based near Eugowra and specialise in using locally sourced and seasonally grown ingredients. They are catering for Listening to the Lachlan and the menu is delicious!
