Event description
Join David Hounsome as he talks about Aboriginal Australian art from cave to canvas.

About this event

Please note that this is a program for adults and young people aged 14+.

Get social and get learning with Library Lovers, a series of fortnightly talks on a broad range of topics from travel and history to science, forensics and amazing personal stories. These free sessions are run fortnightly on Fridays at Ballajura Public Library.

Join David Hounsome as he uncovers a wealth of art images depicted on rocks, sand and bark to blank doors, blank walls and canvas. Learn about how Aboriginal Australian art has evolved from cultural practice, varying widely among the different nations and language groups, to modern artists' cooperatives springing up and flourishing throughout remote Australia. Charting changes from prehistoric cave paintings to modern canvases hanging in the world's leading art galleries, David details the impact of history, especially colonial settlement, on Aboriginal Australian art.

In accordance with hygiene requirements, social distancing will be maintained throughout this program and hand sanitizing stations and cleaning products will be available for use.

Please book in as spaces are limited. For all inquiries contact Ballajura Public Library on (08) 9207 8686.
