ST.GEORGE LEBANESE FILM FESTIVAL AND AFTRS PRESENTS FRIDAY NIGHT SHORTS

SESSION 3

[FREE ADMISSION]

Showing as part of the 2018 St.George Lebanese Film Festival (LFF), in partnership with the Australian Film and Television Radio School (AFTRS), this session includes the screening of three short films sourced from Lebanon's most renowned film schools and film makers: Son of a Dancer, Green Tea and The Strength of Lace. Refer below for film synopsis'.

Prior to and following the screening, join us for drinks and nibbles at Bar LFF, where you can sample a selection of Lebanese Wine and Beer available for purchase.

Son of a Dancer

Synopsis: Majed, a 20-year-old man, is grieving the loss of his recently deceased mother. One day, he gets the shock of his life when he learns that she was a belly dancer. Torn between his relationship with his now-silent father and Hanine, the woman who will helped him overcome his grief; Majed seeks to discover his mother’s past.

Green Tea

Synopsis: Simon and Isabelle have been married for 25 years, living in a comfortable routine. One day, in November 1993, Isabelle gets the chance to make her dream come true and get featured in her favourite TV show. Her jealous husband Simon then goes to all lengths to stop her from going.

The Strength of Lace

Synopsis: Ola El Hussan interviews her mother Adla, an incredible artisan lace maker who's strength is undeniable. In collaboration with Bankstown Youth Development Service and the Stories of Strength project this film explores a snapshot of the relationship between mother and daughter, the sacrifices of parenthood and the hardships of migrant life in Western Sydney.
