ST.GEORGE LEBANESE FILM FESTIVAL AND AFTRS PRESENTS FRIDAY NIGHT SHORTS

SESSION 1

[FREE ADMISSION]

Showing as part of the 2018 St.George Lebanese Film Festival (LFF), in partnership with the Australian Film and Television Radio School (AFTRS), this session includes the screening of four short films sourced from Lebanon's most renowned film schools and film makers: Amal, Wahl, Pick Me Up and Silenced. Refer below for film synopsis'.

Prior to the screening, join us for drinks and nibbles at Bar LFF, where you can sample a selection of Lebanese Wine and Beer available for purchase.

Amal

Director: Raoul Mallat

Year: 2018
Synopsis: Amal (“hope” in Arabic) is very young when his father is kidnapped as they cross the border between Syria and Lebanon. A worker in Beirut's neighborhoods, Amal spends her days waiting for news of her missing relative, waiting for her life to take a new turn.

Synopsis: A once famous theatre actor in his 60s, is remembered by few for his most cliché and worthless piece of work. He allows a young film maker into his life, where she gives him the opportunity for one final work to change what he is known for. Will she be able to get him back on stage?

Pick Me Up

Synopsis: Sally, in her early twenties and part of the Production team in a shoot, finds herself taking on many of her friend's tasks. With an important competition and a deadline looming over her head, and the only one helping her is Ghazi, the pick-up truck driver.

Synopsis: Silenced follows a Muslim family dealing with the constant battle of Islamophobia and oppression in their Western Sydney neighbourhood. Will sticking to their beliefs free them from a self imposed prison of fear or will it isolate them even more?
