The DFSI Young Professionals Network proudly presents the 2017

LET'S TALK FORUM

On 29 November, the Young Professionals Network is hosting its second annual Let’s Talk Forum.

This networking and professional development event will help you improve your digital literacy, leverage new technologies to achieve outcomes, drive innovation and become more familiar with emerging trends in technology.

Basically, this event aims to future-proof YPs in the public sector.

We have a full agenda, including presentations from Government Chief Information and Digital Officer, Damon Rees and two guest speakers who are experts on the theme, plus a skills-development workshop and a panel discussion.

We also have some sponsored places available for our regional YPs that will cover accommodation and travel costs. First in best dressed.

P.S. There will be food.

Our Speakers:

  • Damon Rees

Currently acting as Service NSW CEO, Damon is the NSW Government Chief Information and Digital Officer. Damon invited attendees to not imagine a futuristic landscape for digital government, but realise that we are already amongst it, and wants to  explore which soft skills and opportunities YPs should be seeking out to better position ourselves in a rapidly changing digital government. Damon will be challenging attendees with 3 key takeaway actions.

  • Marina Chiovetti

It is becoming increasingly less possible to say ‘I’m not very digitally literate’. For YPs to drive the conversations and transformation, Marina Chiovetti is running a workshop aimed at positioning our attendees as conduits to facilitate the ongoing digital revolution by addressing gaps in digital literacy and opportunities for reform.

  • Professor Ariadne Vromen

Ariadne Vromen is Professor of Political Sociology, and her research interests include: political participation, social movements, advocacy organisations, digital politics, and young people and politics. Ariadne has completed extensive research on young people’s political engagement, including a comparative project on social media use in Australia, the UK and USA; and co-authoring a policy report for the Australian National Youth Affairs Research Scheme. She is currently completing a book on digital citizenship and new advocacy organisations.

If you are a regional YP (anywhere outside Sydney metro) and require sponsorship for accommodation and/or travel, please indicate this when you register. As places are limited we will do our best to ensure those located furthest are given priority. We will let you know if you have received a sponsored place two weeks prior to the event and organise the details with you. If you don’t receive a place, talk to your manager about having your business unit fund your accommodation. Final decisions about attendance will be made by the YPN Committee in conjunction with our executive sponsor.
