Description

Inviting all Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges environmental volunteers – join us for a day of learning, meeting new people, catching up with old friends, and plenty of fun!

The day will start with a warm drink and morning tea upon arrival. You will then have the chance to undertake three, 30-minute workshops. Please select upon registration. Note that places are limited.

Workshops:

1. Guided wildflower walk

With a particular emphasis on native orchids and spring wildflowers, join local expert wildlife photographer and author Greg Cramond for a short stroll through the Marble Hill bushland.

2. Marble Hill history tour

The interesting history and heritage of Marble Hill is brought to life by local historian Dr Patrica Bishop on a short, guided tour of the historic property.

3. Plant propagation

Learn how to propagate your own plants with the knowledgeable Trees for Life Nursery Manager Brett Oakes.

4. Kaurna cultural carving

Join Allan Sumner from Aboriginal Contemporary Arts and use creative skills to hand carve your very own miniature boomerang, shield or coolamon to take home.

5. Wildlife Monitoring

Join NR AMLR Ecologist, Dr Elisa Sparrow to learn about wildlife monitoring across the AMLR. Find out about microbat and pygmy possum nest boxes, anabat, echometer, motion sensor cameras and more.

A delicious paella lunch will follow and, in the afternoon, you will hear from 2nd generation beekeeper and fervid bee advocate Vanessa Hoo, also known as Mademoiselle Bee.

Volunteer groups celebrating major milestones will also be recognised at the event.

Join us as together we will celebrate the passion and achievement of volunteers who are conserving and restoring the unique environment across the region, and discuss goals for the future.

Thanks to the owners of Marble Hill for kindly allowing us to host this year's celebration at their beautiful estate free of charge. The venue is rich in heritage, has glorious views and will make for a fantastic day. Please note that limited parking is available on site, carpooling is highly encouraged.

Registrations essential. More details to come after registration.

Volunteers are not paid – not because they are worthless, because they are priceless!

This event is for current environmental volunteers and is funded by the NRM levy.

By registering for this event you consent to being added to our volunteer e-newsletter; to being contacted to provide evaluation for reporting; and for photos being used for promotional purposes (please advise if you’d prefer not to be in any photos).
