Event description

Description

Looking for practical ways to reduce your plastic use and demonstrate sustainability with your class?

Come along to this workshop and learn how to make beeswax wraps. Beeswax wraps are a fabulous alternative to cling wrap and especially good for school lunch boxes. This is your opportunity to see how much fun they are to make too!

  • One of the main selling points of a beeswax wrap is that it’s made from materials you can feel good about: beeswax, jojoba or coconut oil, tree resin, and organic cotton.
  • The other main advantage? It’s reusable. Once you’re done with your wrap, just wash it with gentle soap and cool water (hot water can melt it), then let it air-dry to use it again.
  • Finally, once the Bee’s Wrap has been used for about a year, you can cut it into strips to compost it!

In this FREE workshop, which is delivered by local teachers for teachers, you will learn how to make a set of beeswax wraps to take home. All materials are provided.

The workshop will also cover ingredients; properties of beeswax wraps, DIY methods; and how to look after your beeswax wraps.

Finally, and here's the real bonus - if you attend the workshop and commit to doing the activity with your class, we are offering the first 25 schools a FREE class set of materials per school (material, wax and resin) to take home with them. All you have to do is send us some photos of your class (or school) doing the activity and the total number of participants.

Spaces are limited, so make sure you book NOW!

The LessisMore4GBR project is funded by the partnership between the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
