Description

HIGHLIGHTS:

Lesmurdie Falls Hike and Nature Photography Workshop + Bushtucker Tea at Sunset | 3.5 km Loop | Difficulty: Tricky beginner / Easy moderate | Time: allow 2-2.5 hours

We are partnering with Nathan Dobbie from Nature by Nathan, Perth Hills based nature photographer, to bring you this exciting hike and workshop experience. Learn techniques, tips, and tricks on photographing nature at its finest, so you can take your hiking memories with you and look back at them for years to come, and enjoy the sunset over the city with a bushtucker tea to finish. Nathan will cover a range of things including how and when to use manual shooting mode, finding captivating compositions for photographs, long exposure photography (for the beautiful waterfall shots), and techniques on sunset photography to get the entire image exposed correctly. You will also be free to ask him any questions along the way!

INCLUDED IN YOUR TICKET:

Your ticket includes a start to finish guided hike with our trained hike leaders, on-the-go nature photography workshop with nature photographer, Nathan, and bushtucker tea with some nibbles to finish off your hiking and photography experience. Our hike leaders carry communication devices and first aid kits for your safety. Feel comfortable knowing that we will guide you through your hiking experience and you can relax and enjoy. Your ticket also covers licences and registration fees to hold group hike events in National Parks in WA. Please note a 10% ticket fee charged by Eventbrite to all ticket sales.

MEETING POINT AND GETTING THERE:

We will be meeting at the bituman carpark at the Lesmurdie Falls Picnic Area ( at the end of Falls Road) Kalamunda. Make sure you drive past the gravel carparks, but keep these in mind as backups if parking is full. Arrive early to ensure you find a carpark as this can get busy at this time of day.

TRAIL DIFFICULTY:

This trail consists of some tricky downhill descents, and a tough uphill climb. A great challenge for the beginner hiker with moderate fitness, or a moderately experienced hiker. You set the pace, so please don't worry about slowing down the group, as we have hike leaders to guide you along!

WHAT TO WEAR & BRING:

  • Bring plenty of water ( at least 2 litres per person)

  • Comfortable clothes and sturdy trainers or hiking boots. With the uneven gravel trail at times, good grip soles are advised.

  • Personal first aid kit

  • Camera - This workshop based hike will require you to bring a camera to get the most out of the experience

  • A towel to sit on

  • Hiking sticks ( if you have them!) to help with the downhill ascents.

AMENITIES:

Toilets available.

PETS:

Dogs are welcome, however we wouldn't recommend them at this event as it is a workshop, and we want you to get the most out of your experience.

UNDERSTANDING THE GRADES:

Green hikes are suitable for beginners and can be completed with a basic level of fitness. There are minimal vertical climbs, and between 1-5km in length.

Orange hikes are suitable for the moderately experienced or hikers with a reasonable fitness level. These are typically between 6-15 km with a decent vertical climb. Most hikes will be orange.

Red hikes are for experienced hikers or people with a good level of fitness. They are typically longer than 10 km and involve challenging elevation and terrain. They may also be shorted hikes with a continued steep vertical climb. such as Bluff Knoll.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

No-shows and cancellations received within 7 days of hike departure will incur a 100% cancellation fee.

Cancellations received 7-14 days prior will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations received over 2 weeks in advance will receive a full refund or credit towards another event.
