LEARN@QFHS: Are you interested in a One Place Study (OPS)?
Overview
Photo: Dorfprozelten (provided by the speaker)
This meeting will be Online only. No daylight savings.
A zoom link will be sent to registered attendees the night before the meeting.
In this presentation we’ll discuss the meaning of an OPS, and how you might choose your village, town, house, street, etc etc. There are many options you might focus on. The benefits and challenges of the project.
Why are you interested in it and does it complement your own or your family history? What sorts of record sources might we use to advance the study of our OPS? Is there a particular aspect you want to limit it to, eg climate, industry? How do you draw the data together and how will you record your findings?
SPEAKER: Pauleen Cass has been researching her family history for many decades in both Australia and her families’ ancestral homelands overseas. She has been blogging the families’ stories since 2009 and has written the history of the Kunkel-O’Brien family of Ipswich and Murphy’s Creek. Pauleen’s family research has led her to delve into the stories of the Dorfprozelten emigrants to Australia, and the emigrants from Broadford in East County Clare. Pauleen also has an interest in the history of Murphy’s Creek from the 1860s to 1920s. At times she bites off more than she can chew, and finds it a challenge to balance her competing research directions!
