Description

Immersive media such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and 360 video is increasingly being used to develop new types of learning experiences. These technology tools are currently being used by academic staff to support their teaching across areas such as Medicine, Science, Engineering, Architecture, and Arts.

Participants attending this session at the new MDHS Digital Learning Hub will be given the opportunity to try out different immersive media technologies. Examples demonstrating various use cases will be shared as well as advice and guidance about factors to consider when developing immersive media learning activities.

12.00pm - Introduction and overview of VR in LE (Ben Loveridge)

- Overview of Digital Learning Hub and VR Heart project (Charles Sevigny)

- Arts Presentation (Mitch Buzza)

- NeXT Lab (MSD)

- Using 360 degree video in vet science (Stuart Barber)

1.00pm - Lunch break (light refreshments provided) and free play

– Using Nanome VR for molecular biology (Mike Kuiper)

– Demo Applications of AR with NeXT Lab (MSD)

2.00pm - Finish
