Event description

Description

Learning Agility: finding yourself in a situation where you have never been before, not knowing what to do, and figuring it out.

This two-day workshop explores these ideas through individual and team coaching combined with improvisational activities. It will be lively, and playfully explore what learning and agility looks and feels like.

It is the ability for an individual or group to quickly try out new things in new situations. The ability to learn skills and become unstuck set apart the very best leaders and teams. The changing nature of work, and the changing dynamics of the workplace - shifting ethnic and generational demographics, and expectations - mean we need to be flexible.

Relying on familiar tools may actually be preventing us from innovating, or even seeing a problem at all. We can all become over-reliant on familiar tools, no matter what our area of work.

Day One will focus on connecting with each other and the content; frameworks for learning & agility for individual and team performance; exploring learning & agility in action; and coaching for learning & agility through interacting with peers.

Day Two will focus on coaching ourselves and reflective practices; a pop-up lab where participants can share knowledge and experiences; and a review of learning & agility applications.

Who is this event for?

This event is designed for anyone who needs to collaborate with others, is facing disruption but lacks a large innovation budget, needs to put an idea into action, and is working with teams and groups and needs them to open to new ideas.

What will I get from this experience:

You will experience top professionals in action; learn about the power and usefulness of applied improvisation for learning and agaility; understand your own agility as a learner, and ingrained habits as a leader; explore how to be more social, creative, focused and resilient with teams; learn from the improv practice of side coaching to better lead peers, and coach teams; and leave with activities that help you adapt and become unstuck.

Who will lead the workshop?

David Matthew Prior, from New York, USA, is an executive coach training people in the mastery of people-centred coaching at Columbia University and across China, the USA, and Europe. David uses a radical and proven approach to coaching that puts creativity and caring at the centre. David is certified in using the Learning Agility Inventory.

Lee Ryan, from Auckland, New Zealand, a multi-talented design coach who understands that the power of innovation is based on your ability to improvise. She works with businesses, universities, and government agencies to lift their performance beyond the ordinary.

Viv McWaters, your Australian host, draws on her natural science and arts backgrounds to challenge people to have the confidence and ability to perform a head taller than usual, and to take risks that surprise and delight.

What if I want to know my own, or my team's, learning agaility before, or after, the event?

Great question! David Matthew Prior is accredited with the Learning Agility Inventory and can offer individual or group assessments. Contact David directly by email david@getacoach.com

What is the format?

The number of participants is limited to 30 people. We will work together as a whole group to explore the various topics with workshops, discussions, demonstrations and practice. We will use the venue space and nearby gardens (weather permitting).
