Event description

Description

Visibility is crucial to effective supply chain management. Technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), supported by the use of the GS1 standards of the Electronic Product Code (EPC), enable trading partners to share real-time information about the movement, status and condition of products, as they travel through the supply chain. The use of these technologies is becoming a competitive differentiator in Australia and internationally. With GS1 Australia committed to improving supply chain visibility, industry is already seeing greater adoption of EPC enabled RFID and EPCIS — a GS1 standard for event information sharing.

The benefits of this technology include improvements in inventory management, retail store operations, anti-counterfeiting, asset management and freight tracking, just to name a few.

Learning outcomes:

At the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Identify the key components of an RFID system and differentiate the various options for each of these key components
  • Analyse a business environment and at a high level, identify the key business processes that would benefit from an RFID system
  • Explain how GS1 standards support traceability through critical tracking events and key data elements.
  • The RFID Coalition: Working together to improve visibility and inventory accuracy in the Australian retail marketplace.
