Event description

Description

Papercut artist, Ellen (of Ellen Marie Artistry), will guide participants through the design process, both from a technical and creative perspective. Students will gain an insight into the art form, learning about the various techniques used to create wonderful patterns and shapes. Students will be given templates to work from but can also choose to get creative and design their own feathers.

Ellen will then demonstrate and explain the different approaches to the cutting process, teaching people how to cut out their paper feathers ready for their wall hanging. Whilst participants will work with white paper and plain balsa wood during the workshop these wall hangings can be made truly unique by adding a splash of colour! Ellen will discuss the different ways this can be achieved and advise participants in materials and techniques to try at home.

At the end of the workshop, students will have created a unique, hand-crafted wall hanging which celebrates the natural beauty of paper and the versatility of this ancient art form.

An excellent starting point for anyone who wishes to explore the art of papercutting. This workshop is also a fantastic example of how simple materials can be transformed into beautiful creations!

Bookings required, workshop will take place in the 1855 Room.
