Event description
Talk: The accumulation of stress and trauma in our lives and in our bodies with local medical expert Dr Gwenyth Francis

About this Event

Stress is a normal part of life, and when moderate and temporary, it can energise us to be more focussed and more productive. On the other hand, chronic stress and psychological trauma can have a damaging impact on us.

The talk will be providing information on the situations that create stress and trauma in our lives and what actually occurs within us mentally and physically. It is important to know that a lot of the impact is actually physically on our bodies and can interfere with our physical health if the stress is chronic or the trauma is unresolved.

The discussion will include ways to recognise stress in yourselves, the symptoms and behaviours and ways to deal with it to protect yourself from a negative outcome.

There will be time for questions, followed by a half hour where people will draw their timeline of life events and classify them as stressful or helpful. This will be followed by an opportunity to paint a face mask that represents yourself with all your life experiences.

Your presenter is Dr Gwenyth Francis
