LEARN BASIC TAGALOG – ONLINE COURSE (PRIMARY + HIGH SCHOOL)
Saturdays at 2:00 pm
Start learning Tagalog in a fun and easy way. This online course is perfect for primary and high school students who want to learn basic Tagalog while exploring Filipino culture.
You can join at your own pace, we will revisit key basics and build confidence through interactive lessons, fun activities, games, role-playing, and practising simple Tagalog conversations with classmates in a friendly online class.
ABOUT THIS COURSE

Each week, you’ll learn Tagalog through songs, greetings, numbers, and everyday phrases, while also getting to know Filipino traditions. Led by Mrs. Marie Bandayrel, an experienced teacher, these small-group sessions make learning simple and enjoyable.

WHAT IS TAGALOG?
Tagalog is one of the major languages of the Philippines, spoken by over 100 million people. It comes from the Tagalog region in Luzon, the country’s largest island. In 1937, President Manuel L. Quezon declared Tagalog as the foundation of the national language, later called Pilipino in 1959.
ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Mrs Marie Bandayrel, originally from Manila, graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor's degree in Education, majoring in Physical Education and minoring in Speech and Drama. With experience teaching P.E. and Speech at Maryknoll College Q.C., St Mary's College Q.C., Centro Escolar University, and Immaculate Heart of Mary College, she has a strong educational background.
Marie is a permanent casual teacher in NSW Public Schools. She also served as the former School Principal at the Penrith Community Filipino School (PCFS) under the PLCAA project.
The Filipino Saturday School is based in Western Sydney and teaches Filipino language, art, culture, and history classes to students of all ages and backgrounds, including primary and high school students.
