TOPIC // The Importance Of: Telling Your Brand Story

Brand continues to be a buzz word but what does this mean for small business owners and side hustlers? Beyond a good looking logo and a gazillion Instagram followers, one of the keys to any successful brand is authenticity. And how do you convey authenticity and build a tribe? Through your unique brand story of course..

CHIQUITA SEARLE - Chiquita PR & Talent Management

TEDx Alumni, Publicist, Talent Manager, Speaker, MC & Writer

Taking the path-less-trodden, in 2011, after a successful eight-year long stint in HR and Recruitment for the construction and mining industries, Chi felt a strong pull in another direction and so followed her heart to France where she studied at the Paris Fashion Institute before launching her own fashion label “Chi the Label” (rebranded “Chiquita”) the following year.

Hand-picked to launch the League of Extraordinary Women’s first Queensland branch as their QLD Crusader in August 2012, within twelve months Chi was offered the opportunity to take on the role as the League’s General Manager to oversee the group’s national growth. Under her leadership, the League expanded to 9 locations Australia wide and made history by launching Australia’s first ever all female entrepreneur one day conference, ‘Run the World’.

Since leaving the League, Chi has established CHIQUITA, a PR & Talent Management Agency where she helps individuals and businesses from a variety of industries raise their profile through innovative PR and media strategies. She is adept at getting to the heart of what makes an individual ‘unique’, clarifying their point of difference and understanding exactly how to leverage this to achieve significant media coverage.

A TEDx Alumni, Chi is also invited to speak or MC at a number of events by a range of leading brands including Run the World, Australian Women of Medicine, Pause Fest, ANZ, One Path and Empowered Women in Real Estate.

YVETTE TIMMINS - Founder & CEO of Bloom College , Award Winning Florist, Speaker and Author

Yvette Timmins is an award winning Australian florist, CEO and Founder of Bloom College, who is innovating the floristry and well-being industries by leveraging technology to educate students on the positive energy of flowers. By combining a range of online and offline workshops, courses, YouTube channel and an app, Yvette is taking the floristry, health and well-being industries by storm through her unconventional belief that flowers play a pivotal and crucial role in the mission towards self-fulfillment.

Claire Spalding - My Brand Story.

Claire is a brand strategist with over 13 years of experience in brand and strategic marketing. In laymans terms, she has been helping businesses build and develop their brand story, identity and values; all the while assisting them strategize for more connected, successful and profitable futures.

She studied a double Bachelors Degree in Marketing & PR and Communications. Claire’s experience as a Brand and Marketing Manager is diverse and allowed her to work within a wide range of industries (retail, food & beverage, interior design, and SO many more) across Australia and Europe. She thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of working within multinational, large, corporate environments – where she learnt a lot but knew, deep down, that it just wasn't the right fit for her long term. Claire wanted to absorb as much as she could and learn from the best within their respective industries and, from there, branch out on her own and share what she had learnt with other small businesses to build their own brand identity.

She is passionate about delving deep into brands. She is all about digging right to the core of why they exist and exploring what it is that will engage and resonate with their desired market to encourage their clients to become brand tribe members!

“I am on a mission to share my brand and marketing knowledge to help you, as business owners, to understand and own your unique Brand Story. You will develop a greater understanding of the WHO, WHAT, WHY, WHERE & HOW of your brand and business, and I will show you how to make it count.”

Outside of the branding world, Claire is a big fan of the tea (like, really big), travelling anywhere near or far, and hanging with her three dogs; Aslan (the dopey Golden Retriever), Salty & Houdini (the sassy Sausage Dogs).

If you’re a female entrepreneur or thinking of owning your own business, this Meet Up is the perfect setting to meet other women in the same boat. This is not a networking group – we’re here to have real conversations and make real connections.

What do we mean by real? Well you know when you walk into a room and feel welcome even when you don’t know anyone? Or when you share experiences with someone and they say “me too!”? How about when you share tough times with someone and they don’t try to give you the advice to fix it but rather - they just get you. This is what happens at League of Extraordinary Women Meet Ups.

SOME RULES we’d like to point out.

1) Tickets are $25 (+booking fee), or free for League members. Now, it goes without saying that the free tickets are for League Members only, so please only select that ticket type if you are a paying League Member – League membership is $15 per month, and gives you access to free Meet Ups in addition to loads of members only content on the members portal. If you’re not a member yet then you can join via the link below, or just purchase a ticket.

2) Please only register for this event if you plan on going. I know some people will grab a free ticket and then decide last minute that they’re too lazy to go – don’t be one of these people. If you commit to something, commit to it - we want to meet you!

3) If you’ve never been to a League event, there’s a reason why we don’t use the “N” word and use the word “connecting” instead. It's because of the negative connotation of soliciting, selling and business card swapping. Bleh, no one wants to go to an event to talk to someone for 20 minutes only to realise you’re being sucked into buying some powdered thick shakes. We are here to connect authentically and honestly – share stories and experiences, learn from each other and respect each other. Magical things WILL happen and people will seek you out to buy from you when you work from an honest heart space
