TOPIC // Room to Move: Managing Growth

So at last you're at the stage where you need more room... More room for making your product, holding meetings with clients, or even just storage for your business. There's plenty of options available to us these days, no longer do we need to commit to a long term lease or even hold a permanent space.
Our speakers will discuss their business journeys and how they managed their business, and space, while experiencing significant growth.

ALEX OSMOND - Founder Her Wardrobe

Her Wardrobe is an outfit rental service that empowers women to dress in the latest fashions without having to forego their financial stability.

Founder Alex Osmond completed a ‘Fashion Business’ course at the Melbourne School of Fashion in 2009. It was here that she fell in love with business and decided that “one day” she would love to own her own dress rental business.

Fast-forward five years and Alex had launched her dream business; Her Wardrobe, all while working full-time at a consulting company. Since launching in September 2014, Alex has seen the business grow from a handful of dresses in her spare bedroom to an online retailor that dresses over 100 women per week. Most recently she opened her first brick & mortar rental boutique in St Kilda, VIC.

Jo Harris & Lucy Glade-Wright - Hunting for George

Jo completed a Bachelor of Nursing and went on to work at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where her calm under pressure and accessible nature excelled, resulting in further training in Team Management and Leadership. During her career, Jo’s interpersonal skills developed and proved to be of great influence when applied to retail. Motivated by a desire to enhance the community around her, Jo does so with authenticity and exceptional service. With a long list of company and personal awards to date, Jo was recently named No.18 in the Internet Retailing’s Top 50 People in eCommerce for 2018.

Lucy studied Communication Design and after graduating with Honours, went on to work as a Graphic Designer at some of the most elite design agencies in Australia and the UK. Working for a range of brands including Virgin Media, Lonely Planet and the BBC, Lucy honed her skills in Brand Identity, Art Direction and Design. Motivated by the power of storytelling, Lucy believes that great design can only exist alongside an equally great idea. A wordsmith at heart, her love for narrative is evident in all that she creates. With a long list of company and personal awards to date, Lucy was recently named No.9 in the Internet Retailing’s Top 50 People in eCommerce for 2018.

If you’re a female entrepreneur or thinking of owning your own business, this Meet Up is the perfect setting to meet other women in the same boat. This is not a networking group – we’re here to have real conversations and make real connections.

What do we mean by real? Well you know when you walk into a room and feel welcome even when you don’t know anyone? Or when you share experiences with someone and they say “me too!”? How about when you share tough times with someone and they don’t try to give you the advice to fix it but rather - they just get you. This is what happens at League of Extraordinary Women Meet Ups.

SOME RULES we’d like to point out.

1) Tickets are $25 (+booking fee), or free for League members. Now, it goes without saying that the free tickets are for League Members only, so please only select that ticket type if you are a paying League Member – League membership is $15 per month, and gives you access to free Meet Ups in addition to loads of members only content on the members portal. If you’re not a member yet then you can join via the link below, or just purchase a ticket.

2) Please only register for this event if you plan on going. I know some people will grab a free ticket and then decide last minute that they’re too lazy to go – don’t be one of these people. If you commit to something, commit to it - we want to meet you!

3) If you’ve never been to a League event, there’s a reason why we don’t use the “N” word and use the word “connecting” instead. It's because of the negative connotation of soliciting, selling and business card swapping. Bleh, no one wants to go to an event to talk to someone for 20 minutes only to realise you’re being sucked into buying some powdered thick shakes. We are here to connect authentically and honestly – share stories and experiences, learn from each other and respect each other. Magical things WILL happen and people will seek you out to buy from you when you work from an honest heart space
