Event description

Description

If you’re a female entrepreneur or thinking of owning your own business, this Meet Up is the perfect setting to meet other women in the same boat. This is not a networking group – we’re here to have real conversations and make real connections.

What do we mean by real? Well you know when you walk into a room and feel welcome even when you don’t know anyone? Or when you share experiences with someone and they say “me too!”? How about when you share tough times with someone and they don’t try to give you the advice to fix it but rather - they just get you. This is what happens at League of Extraordinary Women Meet Ups.

WHERE: Upstairs @ The Kitchens (between Elixiba and Coffee Co.)

WHEN: Wednesday, 6th September 2017

TIME: 6.00PM - 8.00PM (Doors open 5:45pm)

TOPIC // Building A Business For Profit & Purpose

Erica Bartle, Communications Director for Outland Denim

Founded by her husband, James, the socially enterprising Outland launched in September 2016 and has been cited by The Huffington Post, Forbes, Elle, Buro 24/7 and Grazia.

A Bachelor of Media graduate of Macquarie University, Sydney, Erica has been the deputy editor of Girlfriend magazine and has written features for other women's media. She is a contributing writer for White magazine and spent many years pre-motherhood labouring over her award-winning, old-school blog, Girl With a Satchel in the era before bloggers had Instagram.

Erica is a passionate advocate for positive women's media and the rights of underprivileged girls. She is a mother of two girls and resides on Tamborine Mountain.

Mia Munro, Miako

With a global oriented vision, Mia Munro empowers change makers to embrace a balanced view of the way in which they create social impact. Through commercially viable enterprises and measurable social impact outcomes they can contribute to a sustainable approach in the new paradigm.

She demonstrates this through MIAKO, a Social Enterprise destined to correcthumanity imbalances by providing new paradigm education & producing sustainable products with unique technology to contribute to the new transparency economy.

Kylie Lowe, The One Breasted Leader with Soul

Kylie Lowe is a tenacious, energised short haired cancer survivor and thriver, the founder of successful social enterprise ‘Joining Hands’, a mother of 2 beautiful daughters, a mad surfer, psychology graduate and a Nia dancer. She is wildly passionate about social justice, youth homelessness, healing, health and wellbeing for all.

In 2008, Kylie was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. She was given a 0% chance of survival without treatment. After a mastectomy and using a combination of western and natural treatments, Kylie decided to start Joining Hands. Inspirationally, her experience of natural health and wellbeing led her to take action to change the lives of homeless and vulnerable young people by providing free clinics to young mothers and their children.

The clinics were in such demand that Kylie decided to start Joining Hands so that natural health and wellbeing could become accessible to all.

To date Joining Hands has given back over 2600 health and wellness sessions to vulnerable young people in local communities. These services include haircuts, massage, fitness, reiki, nutrition, acupuncture, Bowen Therapy, yoga, dance, mindfulness and much more.

Kylie Lowe is passionate about making a difference through providing access to health and wellbeing services to homeless and vulnerable young people. All who come into contact with her spirit and energy are drawn into reflecting on how they can help make the world a better place.

SOME RULES we’d like to point out.

1) Tickets are $20 (+booking fee), or free for League members. Now, it goes without saying that the free tickets are for League Members only, so please only select that ticket type if you are a paying League Member – League membership is $15 per month, and gives you access to free Meet Ups in addition to loads of members only content on the members portal. If you’re not a member yet then you can join via the link below, or just purchase a ticket.

http://www.leagueofextraordinarywomen.com.au/join-us/

2) Please only register for this event if you plan on going. I know some people will grab a free ticket and then decide last minute that they’re too lazy to go – don’t be one of these people. If you commit to something, commit to it - we want to meet you!

3) If you’ve never been to a League event, there’s a reason why we don’t use the “N” word and use the word “connecting” instead. It's because of the negative connotation of soliciting, selling and business card swapping. Bleh, no one wants to go to an event to talk to someone for 20 minutes only to realise you’re being sucked into buying some powdered thick shakes. We are here to connect authentically and honestly – share stories and experiences, learn from each other and respect each other. Magical things WILL happen and people will seek you out to buy from you when you work from an honest heart space.
