WHERE: The Black Brisbane, 37 Collingwood St, Albion

WHEN: Wednesday, 22nd November

TIME: 7.30AM - 9.00AM

TOPICS //

Social Media can be daunting and confusing. We've teamed up with experts who know the digital realm, inside and out. Our panel of Social Media specialists, Kimberley, Lani and Rachel, will share with us practical and insightful tips to help us understand how we can better utilise social media to build our communities and businesses.
It's all about knowledge and information that you can implement straight away to build your social strategy, brand story, content creation, relationships and business exposure.

We'll be discussing:

STRATEGY - The fundamentals of a digital marketing strategy and brand story telling. Because, this is essential to everything else!

CURRENT DIGITAL OPPORTUNITIES - Practical and insightful understanding of the algorithms to uncover what they mean for your content creation and prioritisation. Along the way you’ll be given loads of tips and tricks that you can apply straight away to start seeing more return from your time and financial social media efforts.

SEO - We believe in content, and so does Google, Facebook, and everyone else controlling access to the masses. Optimising your website for search engines obviously involves optimising your blog posts, but that's only a tiny part of the recipe for SEO success. Our top four ways to start your SEO journey - keywords, content, site infrastructure and backlinks.

DIGITAL TO COFFEE - Social media / online platforms are an amazing opportunity to create initial conversations that lead to larger engagements but how do we transition digital relationships to real life meaningful relationships?

GUEST SPEAKERS // LANI PAULI, RACHEL GOULDSON AND KIMBERLEY KNIGHT

Lani Pauli is a generalist with specialist interests (content marketing, curation, telling the stories of small businesses) and is like a pig in mud when it comes to strategy and analytics. She’s worked on national publicity campaigns for brands like Paul Newman’s Own, Bing Lee, Tourism & Events Queensland, Coco Republic, YCL Jewels, Classpass and led the charge establishing and building the community (online and offline) for Yelp in Brisbane. Lani’s the person most likely to start a sentence with “I was listening to a podcast recently…”, find a decent cup of coffee wherever she is (it was in her wedding vows!) and hunting out the latest in green beauty.

Rachel Gouldson is the Director of FLAMANKO SOCIAL MEDIA, a boutique agency which specialises in helping small to medium sized businesses find their voice and amplify their stories. FLAMANKO has worked closely with clients across industries including Fashion, Professional Services, Construction, Mining, Legal, Real Estate, Media and Manufacturing. And their portfolio includes brands such as Ray White, PRDnationwide, Savills, GOA, Mortgage Choice, Gouldson Legal and more. While these are some reasonably large brands to boast, Rachel is extremely passionate about helping small businesses grow through cost effective, stand out social media communications. Coming from a creative and small business background, she loves connecting people and applying outside-the-square thinking to #GetTonguesWagging.

Kimberley Knight ended a successful corporate career after having her first child, swearing never to return to big impersonal businesses. 18 months later, she started an online fashion store while spending time with her daughter. She was shocked when it actually made some money and her digital marketing study began. Joining a small social media marketing business, she learnt what works and why and started a series of online experiments which led to her purchasing the company and broadening the offering to include SEO, copywriting, outbound advertising, all based on testing, measuring and heaps of hard work. Kimberley runs Knight Global, a Copywriting and SEO agency, which has grown at over 50% month on month for the last year. More importantly. Knight has achieved online revenue results which dwarf the investment made by clients and helped train internal teams to make it sustainable. Working with clients as diverse as modelling agencies in Arizona, fashion designers in Calabasas, and a plethora of Australian businesses, Knight has developed an offering based on science, rather than creative intuition. But, the landscape is everchanging, so Kimberley and the team is constantly testing, measuring and learning.

THE LEAGUE//

If you’re a female entrepreneur or thinking of owning your own business, this Meet Up is the perfect setting to meet other women in the same boat. This is not a networking group – we’re here to have real conversations and make real connections.

What do we mean by real? Well you know when you walk into a room and feel welcome even when you don’t know anyone? Or when you share experiences with someone and they say “me too!”? How about when you share tough times with someone and they don’t try to give you the advice to fix it but rather - they just get you. This is what happens at League of Extraordinary Women Meet Ups.

SOME RULES we’d like to point out..

1) Tickets are $20 (+booking fee), or free for League members. Now, it goes without saying that the free tickets are for League Members only – we don’t want to be the door biatch that makes you pay $20 on the day if you’re not a member or turn you away. For us, we just want to make sure that it’s just fair on everybody. So please only select that ticket if you are a paying League Member – if you’re not then you can join here, or just purchase a ticket. http://www.leagueofextraordinarywomen.com.au/join-us/

2) Please only register for this event if you plan on going. I know some people will grab a free ticket and last minute decide they’re too lazy to go – don’t be one of these people. If you commit to something, commit to it – we want to meet you!

3) If you’ve never been to a League event, there’s a reason why we don’t use the “N” word and we use the word “connecting” and that’s because of the negative connotation of soliciting, selling and business card swapping. Bleh, no one wants to go to an event to talk to someone for 20 minutes only to realise you’re being sucked into buying some powdered thickshakes. We are here to connect authentically and honestly – share stories and experiences, learn from each other and respect each other. Magical things WILL happen and people will seek you out to buy from you when you work from an honest heartspace.
