What's it all about?
Under the National Quality Framework, services are expected to design and deliver an effective curriculum built on the Learning Frameworks. This requires high level pedagogical skills and reflective capacity. This workshop will explore how to lead, motivate, mentor and support individuals and teams in their roles around pedagogy and curriculum. We will identify some practical, powerful strategies, reflect on underlying theory and approaches and support you to develop a plan of action in your setting. This workshop will be helpful for educational leaders, directors and coordinators, lead educators and anyone interested in pedagogy and leadership
- Identify the skills and attributes of effective leadership
- Unpack the concept of pedagogy using real world examples of practice
- Consider the ways in which leadership can enable and develop
- meaningful curriculum and pedagogy
- Identify and explore strategies to empower, enable and motivate
- Colleagues in their programming and pedagogical practices
- Develop an action plan for pedagogical leadership in your service
Presenter Bio – Stephen Gallen
Stephen Gallen has over 26 years’ experience in the ECEC sector as a teacher and educator, consultant, presenter and leader. He has taught and worked across SAC, home based care, kindergarten and primary school, but his primary focus has been in long day care, including over twelve years as a contact educator. He has consulted and presented for Workforce Council, Gowrie Qld, TAFE, QUT, C&K and many other organisations. Some of his main interests include pedagogy and documentation, empowering educators and children, and social justice and inclusion.
Stephen also specialises in Educational program and practice, Documenting children's learning, Critical reflection, Diversity, Inclusion, Social justice, Children's agency and rights, Relationships with children, Designing learning environments, Empowering and motivating teams and individuals, Action research.
