Description

Partnerships and governance for systems change: addressing severe and multiple disadvantage

No one person or organisation has all the answers to creating change to the systems that perpetuate severe and multiple disadvantage. In this presentation, Julian Corner will discuss how Lankelly Chase works in the UK to create powerful partnerships capable of addressing structural inequality and building system behaviours that help systems function better for people facing severe and multiple disadvantage. Julian will also discuss what effective governance looks like for organisations trying to think and act systemically, including Lankelly Chase itself.

Supported by UNSW Canberra and Power to Persuade

When: 4.30pm-6.00pm, Monday 14 October 2019

How to get to the venue:

Public transport: Public transport is within an easy walking distance from nearby College Street, where buses on Canberra's rapid bus network (Routes R2, R3 and R4) stop in both directions near the University's 'South Gate'.

Car Parking: Please note that pay car-parking is available in the larger of the open carparks opposite Buildings 23 & 24. A credit card is required for payment at the exit boom gate on departure.

About the speaker: Julian Corner joined Lankelly Chase as its Chief Executive in 2011, where he has since led a major shift in its focus towards funding systemic change for people facing severe and multiple disadvantage. He was previously Chief Executive of Revolving Doors Agency and has extensive Civil Service experience. He is currently Chair of Toynbee Hall.

About the LankellyChase Foundation: Lankelly Chase is an independent foundation that works in partnership with people, across the UK, to change the systems that perpetuate severe and multiple disadvantage. Its mission is to get to a place where people want to, know how to and are free to create systems that are effective in responding to the interlocking nature of severe disadvantages such as homelessness, drug misuse, violence and abuse and mental ill health.
