Vaudeville of the Vulva is an hilarious one woman comic cabaret, entertaining and educating about female sexuality with humour and song. A contribution to the genre that includes the Vagina Monologues, the Vaudeville is written and performed by actress, comedienne and sexual health activist, Laura-Doe. It features a host of ingenious characters including, The Vulva Underground – a troupe of unusually vocal velvet vulvae! Not to be confused with Puppetry of the Penis, this show is funny, sexy and wise, yet involves no nudity – instead it seeks to entertain, inspire and inform in a crucial area of life that is sadly under discussed.
“In the past hundred years we have seen pioneers such as Judy Chicago, Betty Dodson and Eve Ensler make groundbreaking contributions towards putting female genitalia on the map.” says Laura-Doe. “But the fact remains that for the majority of people women's genitals are hard to name accurately, if at all, and shrouded in mystery. Vaudeville of the Vulva is a light-hearted, series of sketches that inform by entertaining. However its motivation is serious as it seeks to gently lift the taboos and allow both women and men the freedom to speak about, understand and appreciate the very body parts that make women women. I use comedy and song to inform, to release tension and address our disempowering attitudes about this amazing area, through which we are all designed to enter the world.”
British by birth but Australian by choice, Laura-Doe has a natural talent for acting and comedy. She has been involved in theatre productions since school and trained in the 90’s with Penelope Chater, who has offered invaluable directorial advice on the Vaudeville of the Vulva productions to date. Also an award winning somatic sexologist, she is passionate about empowering people to understand and appreciate the immense power of their natural capacity for pleasure. When she is not entertaining, she gives coaching sessions and runs sexuality workshops through The yOniversity and develops educational tools such as The Vulvalicious Cushions and The Art & Science of Female Arousal DVD.
After three successful runs in Laura-Doe’s home town of Byron Bay, Vaudeville of the Vulva has been presented at festivals and conferences across Australia and most recently in the US and UK. It has received rapturous acclaim such as: “high quality, transformational theatre of great artistic merit that will have lasting benefit and impact”.

“Really good. I’m amazed by your creativity. It was refreshing to have someone create fun entertainment around the vulva – a topic most people are hesitant to talk about. Thank you for being a pioneer.“
